Zygmunt Witymir Bienkowski: was a Polish pilot and a gifted writer of many articles and poems. His 303 squadron diary is deposited in the Polish Museum and Sikorski Institute in London. He is buried at Gunnersbury Cemetery in West London.Zygmunt Witymir Bienkowski was the son of Leopold Bienkowski (1883-1942) and Zofia Braun (1891-1943). His father was a Polish Member of Parliament 1922 - 1928. Both his parents died in the Soviet Gulag camps.Trained as a pilot at Deblin, he saw action in Poland in 1939 and France in 1940. During the Battle of Britain, he trained the pilots who were in short supply. His brother Jan Bienkowski, was also a pilot, shot down over Cherbourg in 1944. As well as Squadron Leader of 303, he also did a stint as Squadron Leader of 302. He finished the war as Wing Commander.

Zygmunt Andrzej Heinrich: was a famous Polish mountaineer. He died in avalanche on the NW slopes of Mount Everest in 1989.A lot of serious climbs including hard new routes and first winter ascents. Among Polish climbers the team Heinrich-Chrobak (Eugeniusz Chrobak, other one of the Polish strongest Himalaya climbers ever) was a kind of a legend (something like the team Bonington-Whillans in Britain).

Zygmunt Haupt: was a Polish writer and painter.In 1939 he was mobilized into army and fought in the Polish Defensive War in the 10th Brigade of Motorized Cavalry of colonel Stanislaw Maczek.[1] After the Soviet invasion of Poland Haupt fled to Hungary and later to France. He survived the siege of Dunkirk and was evacuated to England. He served in the Polish army until 1946.At the end of the war, Haupt married American Edith Norris from New Orleans, whom he met in Great Britain. They married in London and later moved to New Orleans, New York and Washington, settling in Virginia, where he lived the rest of his life. For three decades he contributed stories, articles, and memoirs in Polish to several periodicals, including the Paris-based emigre journal Kultura.
