Zbigniew Golab            Origin/Culture/Country: Polish

Zbigniew Golab: was a Polish American linguist and Slavist. He was described as "one of the world's greatest experts on the Macedonian language and the leading expert on Macedonian-Arumanian contact"[1]He was active during the World War II Resistance Movement, after which he joined the guerilla war against the Germans in 1944. He was imprisoned that same year, but has managed to escape just when Red Army was about to liberate Kraków. In the period 1948-49 he was imprisoned for one year by the Communists, but was eventually released.[2]

Zbigniew Nienacki: was a Polish writer.His works consist of adventure stories aimed at teenagers as well as adult novels. He achieved his greatest acclaim for his Pan Samochodzik series, a sequence of historical detective stories centering around a museum employee and his fantastic automobile (samochodzik means a little car in Polish). The works Raz w roku w Skirolawkach and Dagome Iudex contain controversial opinions on erotic subject matter.Aside from being forcibly relocated during World War II and his brief studies in cinematography in Moscow, he spent most of his life until 1967 in Lódz. In 1967 he moved to Masuria (Polish: Mazury), a lake filled region in northeastern Poland, where he remained until his death. Mazury are sometimes the setting for Pan Samochodzik and feature in some of his other works.

Zbigniew Raszewski: was a Polish writer and theatre historian.Shortly after his birth his family moved to Bydgoszcz, where he spent his childhood and youth. He wrote one of the best books on the town, and more broadly on Polish-German relations there, in the form of Pamietnik gapia. Bydgoszcz, jaka pamietam z lat 1930-1945 Wyd. Pomorze Bydgoszcz., a compendium of memoirs.

Zbigniew Wasiel: contemporary Polish artist, sculptor; creates installations, video objects, artistic arrangements and performances. He also makes figurative, allegorical sculpture verging on abstraction. Much sculptured work is made in brass and bronze.In 2000 he co-founded ‘Na wiezy’ gallery in Gdansk; in 2001-2004 he cooperated with Galeria 78 in Gdynia. Since 2007 he has run the Sculpture Gallery of the Sculpture Artists Association in Gdansk. Founder of the Local Initiatives Association (in 1998) – non-governmental organization involved in promoting different socio-cultural forms of life. First chairman for three terms.

Zbigniew Henrique Morozowicz            Origin/Culture/Country: South America

Zbigniew Henrique Morozowicz: is a Brazilian composer of Polish descent. He chose the pseudonym "Henrique de Curitiba" to become known in Brazil and abroad under a more commonly and better pronounceable name.In 1981 Morozowicz received the Master's Degree at the Cornell University and the Ithaca College in New York, under guidance of Karel Husa, and became a well-known and recognised composer as "Henrique de Curitiba". Morozowicz has composed more than 150 works, amongst them many choral works. He taught at UFPR in the 80's and in the 90's, and at UFG until 2006. He died in Curitiba in February 22, 2008.
