Nancy Yuen: is a Chinese singer.Born in Hong Kong and based in the UK and Singapore, Chinese soprano Nancy Yuen Miu Fun, a top graduate of the Royal Academy of Music, London, has made Cio-cio-san (Madama Butterfly) her signature role, winning great international critical acclaim. She made her operatic debut immediately upon graduation in this demanding Puccini title role with the Welsh National Opera and has since repeated the role all over the world, notably with the English National Opera, West Australian Opera, Opera Queensland, Opera Northern Ireland, Singapore Lyric Opera, the 1994 New Zealand International Festival of Arts, the 1995 Barbados Opera Festival and the Royal Albert Hall production by David Freeman 1998, 2000 and 2003.

Benjamin is the first winner from Hong Kong as the previous two winners, Matthew Ko and Francois Huynh came from Toronto, Canada and France respectively. Benjamin entered the contest as a local candidate. He was a big favorite in the competition due to his past background in commercials and films. During the preliminary and secondary interviews, he bought along a guitar to play, in which eventually made him to choose the guitar as his talent in the finals. After he was selected as #7 in the contest, there were rumors everywhere from newspapers to reporters circulating that he was a playboy and liked to play at night.
