Veli Selim Saarinen: was a Finnish cross-country skier who competed in the 1920s and 1930's.At the 1928 Winter Olympics he finished fourth in the 18 kilometre event.Saarinen's biggest success as a cross-country skier was at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships, where he won six medals. This included three golds (1929: 17 km, 1933: 50 km, 1934: 4 x 10 km), two silvers (1929: 50 km, 1934: 18 km), and 1 bronze (1926: 30 km).
