Tauno Marttinen: was a Finnish composer of contemporary classical music.Marttinen was named a professor by the president Urho Kekkonen in 1972. The composer lived in Turenki until his death. The only world-wide Foundation "Tauno Marttisen Kunniaksi" (Foundation in honouring Tauno Marttinen) is situated in The Netherlands, with Leeuwarden as residence.

Tauno Mikko Lappalainen: was a Finnish cross country skier who competed in the late 1920s and early 1930s.Lappalainen won three medals at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships with two silvers in 1926 (30 km, 50 km) and one bronze in 1930 (17 km).At the 1928 Winter Olympics he finished sixth in the 50 kilometre event. Four years later he finished seventh in the 50 kilometre competition at the 1932 Winter Olympics.

At the 1972 Winter Olympics in Sapporo, he finished fourth in the individual large hill event.Käyhkö's best finish at the FIS Nordic World Ski Championships was fifth twice in the individual large hill events (1970, 1978). His best career finish was in an individual normal hill event in West Germany in 1972.

Tauno Johannes Luiro: was a Finnish ski jumper who competed in the 1950s.March 2, 1951 Luiro jumped the new world record, 139 meters, in Oberstdorf, which stayed unbeaten until 1961 and Yugoslav Joze Slibar. In February 1951 Luiro became the first non-Norwegian who won the youth ski jumping competition in Holmenkollen, Oslo. Luiro finished tied for 18th in the individual large hill event at the 1952 Winter Olympics in Oslo. Luiro, who suffered from diabetes, died for lung-tuberculosis in 1955. His ski club was Ounasvaaran Hiihtoseura.
