Tatsuo Nagai: was a writer of short stories and haiku poetry active in the Showa period Japan, known for his portrayals of city life. Nagai was also known as a haiku poet under the pen-name of "Tomonkyo".Due to this encouragement, he devoted his energies to writing, publishing Kuroi Gohan ("Black Rice") in Bungei Shunju, a monthly literary journal founded by Kikuchi Kan. In 1924, together with the literary critic Kobayashi Hideo, he later launched his own monthly literary magazine called Yamamayu.

Yamamoto Tatsuo: was a Japanese politician and Governor of the Bank of Japan from 1898 to 1903. He was also a member of the House of Peers and served as a cabinet minister in the pre-war Japanese government.Yamamoto was born as the younger son of a samurai family of Usuki Domain, present-day Usuki Oita Prefecture. After the Meiji restoration, at the age of 19 he moved to Osaka, and at the age of 22 to Tokyo, where he studied at a school run by the Mitsubishi company. He returned to the Osaka University of Commerce as a teacher, and at the young age of 26 was appointed its principal.
