Ford Edwards Stinson, Sr.: was a member of the Louisiana House of Representatives from 1940–1944 and again from 1952-1972. In his last legislative term from 1968–1972, he served in a two-member district covering Bossier Parish with fellow Democrat Walter O. Bigby. Prior to 1968, he

Thomas Hubert Stinson     Thomas Hubert Stinson       Origin/Culture/Country: American

Thomas Hubert Stinson: was a Conservative member of the Canadian House of Commons. He was born in Minden, Ontario and became a barrister. He was first elected to Parliament at the Victoria, Ontario riding in the 1925 general election after an unsuccessful campaign there in 1921. Stinson was re-elected there in 1926 and 1930 then defeated by Bruce McNevin of the Liberal party in the 1935 election.

John Stinson     John Stinson       Origin/Culture/Country: American

John Stinson: was a political figure in Upper Canada. He also was a captain in the local militia and served during the War of 1812. He was elected to the 5th Parliament of Upper Canada for Prince Edward in an 1811 by-election and was reelected in 1812. With Joseph Willcocks, he opposed measures attempting to prepare the province for war that administrator Isaac Brock introduced in 1812.

Frederick (Fred) Coles Stinson     Frederick (Fred) Coles Stinson       Origin/Culture/Country: American

Frederick (Fred) Coles Stinson: was a Canadian, lawyer, politician, and diplomat, and the Member of Parliament for the federal riding of York Centre from 1957 to 1962. In the 1957 federal election, at the age of 34, he ran for federal office in the riding of York Centre for the Progressive Conservative Party, defeating the incumbent, Al Hollingworth, by over 10,000 votes. He was re-elected in the 1958 federal election, but his lack of support for Prime Minister John Diefenbaker in the 1956 Tory leadership convention meant that he had little support from party leadership. In addition, the scuttling of the Avro Arrow project and the closure of the plant near his riding made him unpopular in his riding; he blamed the Arrow decision for his loss in the 1962 federal election to James Edgar Walker, a Liberal. The riding has elected Liberals to Parliament ever since.

Lloyd Stinson     Lloyd Stinson       Origin/Culture/Country: American

Lloyd Stinson: was a politician in Manitoba, Canada, and the leader of that province's Co-operative Commonwealth Federation (CCF) from 1953 to 1959. Although widely regarded as a capable leader, he was unable to achieve a major electoral breakthrough for his party. Unusually for a social democrat, Stinson's base was in the southern part of Winnipeg (after the General Strike of 1919, the north end generally elected socialist and labour candidates while the south supported pro-business figures). Stinson was defeated in Winnipeg South Centre in the federal election of 1945, though coming a respectable second to the victorious Liberal candidate. Later in the year, he was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba as one of ten members for the city of Winnipeg. (Winnipeg elections were determined by prefential balloting, with the entire city as one constituency). Stinson placed second among the CCF candidates, trailing only party leader Seymour J. Farmer.
