And they made him Unofficial Prime Minister of the Union of Burma, elected by the 1990 People's Assembly known as the National Coalition Government of the Union of Burma – a government-in-exile since 1990.

Sein Hlaing: was a Myanmar national football team player and coach from Myanmar, regarded as being the most successful coach in the history of the national team. Sein Hlaing was awarded by FIFA the Centennial Order of Merit in recognition of his achievements as a coach. He began playing football at a young age and appeared for the Seven Stars club while still at high school in 1938. Later in 1940, he played for the Friends Union club in Burma's top level of club football as well as the Burma national team as a right midfielder. From 1964, he was also coach of the full national team. He coached the national team to victory in the Asian Football Championships in 1966 and 1970 and in the Southeast Asian Games tournaments in 1967, 1969, 1971 and 1973. Myanmar shared the title with Thailand in 1965. This is the most successful period in Burmese football history.

Thein Sein: is a Burmese politician and former military figure who has been president of Myanmar (Burma) since March 2011. Previously, he was Prime Minister from 2007 until 2011. He is generally considered to be a moderate and reformist in the new government. In 1995, he was recruited as the commander of Yangon Division's Military Operations Command 4 in Hmawbi. A year later, in 1996, he was appointed to lead the new Triangle Regional Military Command in Kyaingtong, Shan State, serving this role for four years (1997–2001). In 1997, he became a member of the State Peace and Development Council and was appointed as Secretary-2 in 2003. He was also promoted to the rank of Lieutenant General that year.

Po Sein: was an influential 20th century traditional actor, singer and dancer, who has been credited with innovating and modernizing Burmese performance arts, in dance, song, costumes and stagecraft. He also established the Mandalay-based performance troupe, "Sein Maha Thabin" , which remained family-run until 1993, when it was closed by his grandson Ye Sein.
