He represented the electoral district of Cape Breton West and then Cape Breton The Lakes as a member of the Liberal Party of Nova Scotia until he died suddenly on October 29, 1982. Osborne Faser was also a veteran of World War II, serving in Germany, Holland, England, Africa and Belgium. He was the first recipient of the District 8 Citizen of the Year. He had one sister and was married to Mary Ruth Briscoe of Pembroke, Ontario and they had 8 children: Darlene (Kenneth) Morrison, Ruthie (Robert) Rose, Ronnie Fraser, Brian Fraser, Cathy Seale, Phillip Fraser, Bonnie Fraser and Chris Fraser.
