Friedrich Heinrich Adolf Bernhard Marx: was a German composer, musical theorist and critic. He began his career studying law at Halle, but also learned musical composition there - a fellow student was the composer Carl Loewe. In 1821 he went to Berlin, where in 1825 Adolf Martin Schlesinger appointed him editor of the music journal he had founded , the Berliner allgemeine musikalische Zeitung. Marx's intellectual critiques were appreciated by, amongst others, Beethoven, although they often offended the Berlin establishment, including Carl Friedrich Zelter.

Herbert Marx: is a Canadian lawyer, university law professor, politician, and judge Between 1969-79, Prof. Marx was a consultant to the Quebec Ministries of Justice, Education and Intergovernmental Affairs as well as to the Canada Law Reform Commission, the Quebec Civil Code Revision Office, the Quebec Gendron Commission on Language Rights and the Montreal Island School Council. He was also a visiting professor at the Université du Québec à Montréal and McGill University Faculty of Law. In 1969, he was a founding member of the Pointe Saint-Charles Legal Aid Clinic in Montreal. In 1979, he was elected as the member from D'Arcy - McGee to the Quebec National Assembly.
