Hermann Von Bönninghausen: was a German athlete who competed at the 1908 Summer Olympics and in the 1912 Summer Olympics. He died after World War I due to injury by being shot in the face. In the 100 metres event at the 1908 Summer Games, von Bönninghausen took fifth place in his first round heat with a time of 12.0 seconds. He did not advance to the semifinals. He also participated in the long jump competition but his final ranking is unknown.

The element was first found in the condensation of vapors (mixed with soot and zinc oxide) that rose out of a furnace in which zinc oxide was being roasted. Karl Friedrich Hermann: was a German classical scholar and antiquary. Having studied philosophy at the universities of Heidelberg and Leipzig (and taking a degree in 1826), he went on a tour of Italy, on his return from which he lectured as Privatdozent in Heidelberg. In 1832, he was appointed to the chair of philosophy at University of Marburg, and in 1833 received the additional offices of second librarian to the university, and director of the philological seminary.
