Gustaw Lewita: was a pianist from Plock, Poland. He attended the Vienna Conservatory and graduated with distinction, before heading to Paris. There he became a member of the orchestra of the Pas de Loup concerts. In 1882, he became a professor at the Warsaw Conservatory. He later gave concerts to Archduke Franz Karl in Vienna and to the Emperor of Brazil, during his later American tour.

Gustaw Morcinek: was a Polish writer, educator and later member of Sejm from 1952 to 1957. He is considered one of the most important writers from Silesia.[1]During the interwar period, Morcinek published many articles in various Silesian press. He wrote his most important books in the late 1920s and early 1930s becoming the only notable Silesian Polish-language prosaist of the interwar period. His works concentrate mostly on coal mining and Silesian themes. Morcinek shows miners' work and life in a realistic way and accentuates the class character of national oppression of Polish miners.[2] Morcinek spent the years 1936-1939 abroad, in Western Europe.
Gustaw Przeczek Origin/Culture/Country: Polish
Gustaw Przeczek: was a Polish writer, poet, teacher and activist from the Zaolzie region of Cieszyn Silesia.During World War II he was arrested during mass arrests of Polish intelligentsia and in 1940-1945 incarcerated in Dachau and Mauthausen-Gusen concentration camps. In the latter camp Przeczek was forced to quarry granite in Gusen and Kastenhofen stone pits.[1]Przeczek wrote poetry, prose and also plays. His literary work is influenced by his incarceration in Nazi concentration camps. In Mauthausen-Gusen Przeczek met other poets, Poles Konstanty Cwierk, Mieczyslaw Paszkiewicz, Grzegorz Timofiejew and Zdzislaw Wróblewski; and Czech Raimund Habrina. They wrote poems on a paper from cement bags; these poems spread among inmates and were recited.
