Grigory Abramovich Shajn: was a Soviet/Russian astronomer. In modern English transliteration, his surname would be given as Shayn, but his astronomical discoveries are credited under the name G. Shajn. Nonetheless, his last name is sometimes given as Schajn.He worked on stellar spectroscopy and the physics of gaseous nebulas. Together with Otto Struve, he studied the rapid rotation of stars of young spectral types and measured the radial velocities of stars. He discovered new gaseous nebulas and the anomalous abundance of 13C in stellar atmospheres.He became a member of the Soviet Academy of Sciences in 1939, and was also a member of various foreign societies such as the Royal Astronomical Society. From 1945 to 1952 he was the director of the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory.

Grigory Kirillovich Razumovsky: was a Ukrainian nobleman, political philosopher, botanist, zoologist and geologist known from his writings in the West as Gregor, who lost his Russian titles in 1811 for verbally attacking Emperor Alexander I and was subsequently incorporated into the Bohemian nobility (Inkolat im Herrenstande) and accorded the rank of Count in the Austrian Empire.

Grigory Ivanovich Ugryumov: was a Russian painter. He is often described as the first Russian history painter.[1]Ugryumov was born in Moscow. He studied at the Academy of Arts in Saint Petersburg from 1170 to 1785, and also attended schools in France and Italy. His paintings include The Trial of Strength of Yan Usmar (1796-7), The Capture of Kazan by Ivan the Terrible in 1552 (1790s), and The Invitation to Mikhail Fyodorovich Romanov to Ascend the Throne in 1613 (1790s). The latter two were painted for the Mikhailovsky Palace in Saint Petersburg. The Grove Dictionary of Art says that Ugryumov's paintings are "notable for their brilliance of design and mastery of colour" and are "strongly patriotic in tone".[1]

He served as Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan in 2004.[1] He is ethnically Russian [2] or Ukrainian. Has served as the Honorary Consul of the Singaporean Government to the Kazakh government since 3 November 2006.
