During the summer of 2002 he moved to CFR Cluj, where he played until 2007.In 2005, Tilinca was called up to the Romanian national team, but he never got to play due to an injury. Additionally he played in the 2005 Intertoto Cup, when he was the competition's top goalscorer with seven goals.

He joined Steaua Bucuresti in the summer of 2007 for € 550.000, but he didn't play any matches in the 2007-2008 season of Liga 1.
