Antti had a seven-year NHL career, mostly as a third line wing and penalty killer for the Boston Bruins, Minnesota Wild and Colorado Avalanche.Laaksonen left Finland for North America in 1993 as a junior pro from the SM-Liiga. He enrolled at the University of Denver where he played four seasons for the Pioneers. Laaksonen was selected 191st overall by the Boston Bruins in the 1997 NHL Entry Draft. In 1997–98, Laaksonen made his professional debut in North America, playing with both the Charlotte Checkers of the ECHL and the Bruins affiliate, the Providence Bruins.

He was born in Rovaniemi.His best year as a ski jumper was 1956, when he won a gold medal in the Individual large hill at the Winter Olympics in Cortina d'Ampezzo as well as the ski jumping competition at the Holmenkollen ski festival. He became the first non-Norwegian ski jumper to win an Olympic gold medal.

He was skilled writer and used Kalevala meter in his poems.Puhakka was illiterate until he was twenty-one but after gaining the skill of writing he wrote nearly twenty thousand lines of poetry. Later he also became a member of the Finnish Literature Society.Antti Puhakka was elected to the Diet of Finland four times after 1862 representing land-owning peasants and became a popular politician in Finland.[2]
