Adriaan Van Royen: was a Dutch botanist. He was a professor at Leiden and is associated with Carl Linneaus. [1Van Royen trained at the University of Leiden and graduated as a medical doctor in 1728 for his thesis Dissertatio botanico-medica de anatome et œconomia plantarum. He was later appointed professor of botany at the university from 1732-1755 and later professor of medicine (1755-1775).He is best known for his work on flora of Southeast Asia. He was a colleague of George Clifford, a wealthy English merchant and governor of the Dutch East India Company living in Harlem, and a noted source of new introductions from the East Indies and the Cape. Adriaan van Royen formed a close relationship with Linnaeus, who had visited the Leiden Botanic Garden during a stay in Leiden between 1737 and 1738.

His work is part of the tradition of generative grammar.Neeleman is co-author of the monographs Flexible Syntax: A Theory of Case and Arguments (1998; with Fred Weerman) and Beyond Morphology (2004; with Peter Ackema). Adriaan Daniël Fokker: was a Dutch physicist and musician.Fokker was born in Buitenzorg, Dutch East Indies (now Bogor, Indonesia); he was a cousin of the aeronautical engineer Anthony Fokker. He studied mining engineering at the Delft University of Technology and physics at the University of Leiden with Hendrik Lorentz, where he earned his doctorate in 1913. He continued his studies with Albert Einstein, Ernest Rutherford and William Bragg. In his 1913 thesis, he derived the Fokker-Planck equation along with Max Planck. After his military service during World War I he returned to Leiden as Lorentz' and Ehrenfest's assistant. In 1928 Fokker succeeded Hendrik Lorentz as director of research at Teylers Museum in Haarlem.
