Zhang Jianya: is a Chinese film director. As a graduate of the 1982 class of the Beijing Film Academy, Zhang is a founding member of the so-called Fifth Generation, a group that also includes in its numbers directors such as Zhang Yimou, Chen Kaige, and Tian Zhuangzhuang.[1]Trained as a carpenter, Zhang's cinematic career began when he joined the Shanghai Film Studio in the mid-1970s as an actor.[1] Upon his graduation in 1982, Zhang directed the children's film, Red Elephant, with his classmates, Tian, and Xie Xiaojing, and helped the studio head Wu Yigong direct the 1987 West German co-production, The Tribulations of Young Master.[2] Beginning with 1988's Kidnapping Karajan, Zhang has carved himself a niche with urban comedies, often based in the city of Shanghai.[1]

Born in Zhenjiang in China's Jiangsu province, Zhang was educated first at Tsinghua University in Beijing, then at Yale University in the United States.Zhang acted in the 1982 film Da ze long she, about an armed conflict between coal miners and management set in the 1920s. In addition to this he also wrote the 1954 war movie Letter with Feather.

A graduate of the Beijing Film Academy and contemporary of such acclaimed directors as Zhang Yimou, Chen Kaige, and Tian Zhuangzhuang, Zhang Junzhao was a prominent early member of China's Fifth Generation filmmakers.[1] His 1984 film One and Eight (Yi ge he ba ge) is well known as a film that marked the advent of the Fifth Generation, while The Shining Arc (Hu guang, 1988) was nominated for the Golden St. George award at the 1989 Moscow International Film Festival.[2]

Dr. Zhang is regarded as one of the China’s Internet pioneers and was named by Forbes Magazine as one of the richest man in China in 2003. [3]Soon after leaving MIT, Dr. Zhang joined Internet Securities Inc. (ISI) in November 1995 and returned to Beijing to establish the ISI China operation. [6] While at ISI, Zhang quickly envisioned an Internet search engine company. Charles Zhang started his own company, Internet Technologies China (ITC) in 1996 with two fellow MIT Professors and with the help of Venture capital. [7] It was also the first VC Funding of a Chinese Internet company. [8] In May, 1997, after a meeting with Jerry Yang, Zhang decided to transform ITC and changed its name to Sohu. [9]

O Zhang: is a Chinese artist based in New York. Although she is best known for her photographs depicting Chinese youth, Zhang also makes paintings, short films and installations. She was trained as an oil painter at the Central Academy of Fine Art in Beijing before moving to London where she earned two MAs, the first in Fine Arts from Byam Shaw, St. Martins School of Art in Fine Arts, and the second from the Royal College of Art in Photography.[1] In 2004 Zhang moved to New York City where she has since lived and worked, making yearly returns to her native China.[2] O Zhang is represented by CRG Gallery, NY, which will present her first American solo exhibition, The World Is Yours (But Also Ours), in December, 2008.[3] Zhang is also represented by Pékin Fine Arts in Beijing and by FA Projects in London.

In recent years, Wen has started to focus on his film career. In 2008, he starred in director Li Dawei's comedy A Tale of Two Donkeys and received wide acclaim from college students. Ocean Heaven is his fifth film in which he plays an autistic son and stars alongside Jet Li, who plays Wen's father. In 2011, Wen worked with Li again in The Sorcerer and the White Snake and played Li's disciple. Wen married Chinese actress Ma Yili, who is eight years older, and they have had a two-year-old daughter.
