Liu joined Golden Harvest in 1970 at the age of 18. His first role was in Bruce Lee's The Big Boss as the villainous "Hsiao Chiun". He then appeared in Fist of Fury as one of the brothers of Jing Wu Men and in Way of the Dragon as "Tony", a Karate practitioner who later studies Kung Fu under Bruce Lee's character, "Tang Lung". He also had a cameo appearance in Enter the Dragon as a tournament fighter who fights John Saxon.
