Tomoko Kawase: a Japanese female singer and vocalist of musical group The Brilliant Green. As a solo artist, she has released music under the alter-ego pseudonyms Tommy February6 and Tommy Heavenly6.Due to her marriage to Shunsaku Okuda, her legal name changed to Tomoko Okuda (????) however she is still credited under Kawase Tomoko.She is the lead vocalist and lyricist of the Japanese pop group The Brilliant Green. She was asked to join the band in 1995 after bassist Shunsaku Okuda and guitarist Ryo Matsui heard her sing in an amateur talent contest. As the band's lyricist (as well as in her solo career) she sings and writes songs in both Japanese and English. Although she reportedly does not speak much English, she does have an English-speaking friend who sometimes runs a quick check through her lyrics, but his input is often minimal at best.

Tomoko Ohta: a Japanese scientist working on molecular evolution. In 1956, she graduated from the University of Tokyo. After working on the neutral theory of evolution with her mentor, Motoo Kimura, she became convinced of the importance of the mutations that were nearly neutral. She developed the slightly deleterious model (Ohta, 1973), then a more general form, the nearly neutral theory of evolution. She is currently at the Japanese National Institute of Genetics and, in 2002, she was elected to the United States National Academy of Sciences as a foreign associate in evolutionary biology.

Tomoko Takahashi: a Japanese artist born in Tokyo in 1966 and based in London, UK. She studied at Tama University, Goldsmiths College and the Slade School of Fine Art.She first came to attention when she won the EAST award at EASTinternational in 1997. She exhibited in the 1999 "Neurotic realism" show at the Saatchi Gallery, is represented by the Hales Gallery of London, and she has exhibited broadly worldwide. Her main medium is installation art, often made of rubbish. In 2000 she was shortlisted for the Turner Prize.
