Stanislawa De Karlowska: was a Polish-born artist, who was married to the Camden Town Group painter Robert Bevan.Stanislawa de Karlowska was the daughter of Aleksander de Karlowski and Paulina z Tucholków. The Karlowskis were descended from the Polish nobility (szlachta) and had substantial estates centred on Szeliwy, near Lowicz, in central Poland. The family had a long history of patriotic activity, and her father had fought with Lajos Kossuth and Józef Bem in the late 1840s. He had also suffered considerable financial loss through the part that he played in the Polish rebellion of 1863.

She was a soloist of La Scala in Milan, Covent Garden in London (1923–1935) and Poznan Opera.Since 1955 professor of National Music School in Warsaw (Panstwowa Wyzsza Szkola Muzyczna w Warszawie; PWSM). After World War II she lectured on the National Music School in Kraków and National Music School in Warsaw. Her notable pupil is Stefania Woytowicz.

Stanislawa Uminska: was a Polish theatre actress.In early 1920s she was considered one of the rising stars of the Polish theatre, but in 1924 in Paris, France, she shot dead her dying fiance, Jan Zyznowski, upon his request as an act of euthanasia. Set free by the French court, she became a nurse and a nun in Poland.
