His former clubs are SC Heerenveen, Willem II, and NEC.After having played for amateur sides Hekelingen and Spijkenisse, Denneboom made his professional debut for SC Heerenveen, on the 6th of February 1999, in the away game against Willem II (3-2 loss). He would play with Heerenveen for five seasons. First he was primarily utilized as a supersub, but starting from the 2002/2003 season he would start in the first team line-up. This did not turn out to be a success and ultimately led to a loan spell with Willem II in October 2003. The next season he would be sold to NEC. After two and a half seasons his displays attracted the interest of FC Twente and PSV.
