Jean-Jacques Martel: was a Progressive Conservative party member of the Canadian House of Commons. He was an insurance broker by career. After an unsuccessful bid for the Chapleau riding in the 1957 federal election, Martel was elected there in the 1958 election. He served for one term, the 24th Canadian Parliament, until he was defeated by Gérard Laprise of the Social Credit party in the 1962 election. He made one further attempt to return to Parliament in the 1979 election at Abitibi but placed third behind Liberal candidate Ronald Tetrault and the Social Credit winner Armand Caouette.

Elie Walter Martel: is a former politician in Ontario, Canada. He served in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1967 to 1987, as a member of the New Democratic Party (NDP). He was first elected to the Ontario legislature in the 1967 election, defeating Progressive Conservative candidate Cecil Fielding by 1,200 votes in the Northern Ontario constituency of Sudbury East. His victory happened the same year that the United Steelworkers absorbed INCO's International Union of Mine, Mill, and Smelter Workers union local 598, ending almost 20 years of very bitter political infighting between the unions and the CCF/NDP. The infighting ousted former CCF MPP, Bob Carlin because the party feared the Sudbury riding association was controlled by communists in the Mine, Mill union. Only after the Steelworkers' prolonged takeover of Mine, Mill, did the NDP finally have unity between its warring factions, thereby allowing Martel to win the seat.

Michel-Dosithée-Stanislas Martel: was a physician and political figure in Quebec. He represented Chambly in the Legislative Assembly of Quebec from 1878 to 1879 and from 1881 to 1886 as a Conservative.He served as a member of the municipal council for Chambly and was mayor from 1878 to 1879 and from 1890 to 1893, also serving as warden for Chambly County. His election in 1878 was overturned in 1879 and he lost the subsequent by-election to Raymond Préfontaine.

Maurice Martel: is a former politician in the Canadian province of Quebec. He served in the National Assembly of Quebec from 1966 to 1970 and again from 1976 to 1985, and was a cabinet minister in the governments of René Levesque and Pierre-Marc Johnson. Martel was first elected to the Quebec legislature in the 1966 provincial election, scoring an upset victory over Liberal cabinet minister Gérard Cournoyer in Richelieu. The Union Nationale won a majority government in this election under Daniel Johnson's leadership, and Martel served for the next four years as a government backbencher. On December 23, 1969, and was appointed as parliamentary assistant to the Minister of Social Affairs. He was defeated by Claude Simard when the Liberals were returned to office in the 1970 provincial election. Martel was appointed to Levesque's cabinet as Minister of Revenue on December 20, 1984, as part of a larger shuffle that some believed was intended as an appeal to small-town Quebec.
