Marilena Buck: a singer songwriter who also plays piano, violin, clarinet and guitar. She is of Eritrean, Italian, Welsh and English extraction.She started writing songs at the age of 11, after being bullied at school. After attending Blackpool and The Fylde College's School of Performing Arts she pursued a career in nursing and moved to London to work at the Florence Nightingale Hospital for eating disorders.In 2002, after two record deals had fallen through, she successfully auditioned and was chosen to appear on the BBC talent show Fame Academy 1.
