Leng Mei: a native Jiaozhou (now Jiaoxian, Shangdong), is a famed Chinese painter in Qing Dynasty. He excelled in painting human figures, especially beauties. His courtesy name was Jichen, and sobriquet Jinmen Waishi, or Jinmen Shushi. He was Jiao Bingzhen's student.

Seow Poh Leng spent two years in a Chinese school and was then sent to Eastern school and finished his schooling at the Anglo-Chinese school. After passing his Senior Cambridge examinations at the Anglo-Chinese School, he decided to become a teacher. He competed for the Queen's Scholarships in 1902. Although he stood high among the candidates, he failed to win the much-coveted prize, and attributed his failure to the fact that he had to divide his time between his duties as a pupil teacher and preparing for the examinations.[2][3]

He won the Nacional Art Prize in 1957. As dentist, he was the main founder of the Dentistry Faculty of the Universidad de Chile, and he was eventually elected as the first dean.
