Bärbel Bohley: was an East German opposition figure and artist. In 1983 she was expelled from the GDR artists federation (VBK) and was banned from travelling abroad or exhibiting her work in East Germany. She was accused of having contacts to the West German Green Party.In 1985 she was one of the co-founders of the Initiative for Peace and Human Rights. In 1988 she was arrested during a demonstration and was given a six month visa to the United Kingdom. She later returned to East Germany. In 1989 she was one of founders of New Forum.After the unification of Germany in 1990 she was involved in several court trials because she publicly proclaimed Gregor Gysi to have been a Stasi informer, and actually spent several days in prison because she would not take the statement back publicly or pay a fine.

Bärbel Inhelder: was a Swiss developmental psychologist, the most famous co-worker of Jean Piaget. She was born in St. Gall, Switzerland and moved to Geneva in 1932 where she studied at the University of Geneva Institut Jean-Jacques Rousseau. She obtained her bachelor's (1935) and doctorate (1943) in psychology.Inhelder worked at the University of Geneva until her retirement in 1983, collaborating with Jean Piaget in his experimental work on child development. Their collaboration began with her dissertation on children's conservation and continued for almost 50 years. Their many joint publications include The Growth of Logical Thinking from Childhood to Adolescence (1958), The Psychology of the Child (1966), and The Child's Conception of Space (1967).

Bärbel Broschat: is a retired East German hurdler. In 1980, a special edition of the World Championships was staged in Sittard, holding events not yet on the Olympic programme. Broschat won the 400 m hurdles ahead of compatriots Ellen Neumann and Petra Pfaff.[1] Her winning time of 54.55 seconds was a career best time. This ranks her tenth among German 400 m hurdlers, behind Sabine Busch, Cornelia Ullrich, Ellen Fiedler, Heike Meißner, Gudrun Abt, Silvia Rieger, Susanne Losch, Karin Roßley and Petra Krug.

Bärbel Podeswa: is a retired East German hurdler. She won the silver medal in 50 m hurdles at the 1968 European Indoor Games, behind Karin Balzer. At the 1969 European Championships she won a silver medal in the 100 m hurdles as well as a gold medal in 4x100 metres relay, together with teammates Renate Meißner, Regina Höfer and Petra Vogt.

Felix-Joseph Barbelin: was a nineteenth century Jesuit influential in the development of the Catholic community in Philadelphia.[1] Styled the "apostle of Philadelphia", he was born at Lunéville, Alsace, France and died in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. He was the oldest of six children, of whom five became religious, his youngest brother Ignace-Xavier being the founder of the Apostolic School at Amiens. He entered the Society of Jesus, 7 January 1831, at Whitemarsh, Maryland, and for some years was stationed at Georgetown University, as disciplinarian and teacher of French.
