Auguste-Joseph Franchomme: was a French cellist and composer. He began his career playing with various orchestras and was appointed solo cello at the Sainte-Chapelle in 1828. Along with the violinist Jean-Delphin Alard, teacher of Pablo de Sarasate, and the pianist Charles Hallé, creator of the Hallé symphony orchestra, he was a founder and member of the Alard Quartet. The Quartet was rare for a chamber ensemble of its time because it consisted of professional musicians. Franchomme also belonged to the founding ranks of the Société des Concerts du Conservatoire.

Auguste Mermet: was a French opera composer. In Mermet's youth, he composed an opéra-comique, La Bannière du roi, which was performed at Versailles. Alexandre Soumet then accepted to transform for him his tragedy about Saul into a libretto of drame lyrique. Auguste Mermet composed the score of this work, which was performed without success at the Opera in 1846 under the title of Le Roi David.

Auguste Mathieu Panseron: was a French composer and voice teacher. Panseron studied in Vienna with Antonio Salieri, having been accepted by the master thanks to a recommendation by Luigi Cherubini. In 1824, Panseron began teaching singing at the Conservatoire de Paris. Early in his career, he wrote four works for the Opéra-Comique in Paris: La Grille du parc (1820), Les Deux cousines (1821), Le mariage difficile (1823), and l'École de Rome (1829). Other works for stage followed.
