Isabel Álvarez: is a Cuban former pitcher and outfielder who played in the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League between the 1949 and 1954 seasons. She batted and threw left-handed. Isabel Álvarez was the youngest Latina player to join the All-American Girls Professional Baseball League, a women’s circuit born during World War II and made famous in the 1992 film A League of Their Own. Álvarez was born and raised in Havana, Cuba, and learned to play baseball from a neighbor. At age 13, she joined the Estrellas Cubanas (Cuban Stars), an All-Star team modeled after the AAGPBL. The first AAGPBL spring training outside the United States was held in 1947 in Cuba, as part of a plan to create an International League of Girls Baseball.

Jorge Luis Crusellas Álvarez: is a retired male sprinter from Cuba. He claimed a gold medal at the 1995 Pan American Games in Mar del Plata, Argentina. Crusellas set his personal best in the men's 400 metres (45.65) in 1995.

Angel Luis Arambilet Alvarez: is a writer, screenplayer, painter, graphic artist, filmmaker and systems engineer. In the Latin American and Caribbean region, he is considered the creator of the first short story (Artes y Letras [Arts & Literature], 1978) and the first graphical poems (combination of text and graphics- Arte y Cibernetica [Art and Cybernetics], 1978) using computerized linetext art or ASCII art. Arambilet is included in the XX Century History of Computer Graphics and Digital Art sponsored by ACM SIGGRAPH, presently being compiled by Anna Ursyn from the Department of Visual Arts of the University of Northern Colorado.
