Pradip Kumar Banerjee: PK Banerjee as he is called often, is one of the famous football players in India. He was born in Jalpaiguri in West Bengal. He was one of the first recipients of Arjuna Award, when the awards were instituted in 1961. He was awarded the prestigious Padma Shri Award in 1990 and was named Indian Footballer of the 20th Century by FIFA. He represented India for 13 years, and was one of the top scorers in Asia at that time.In 1954 he moved on to Kolkata and joined the Mohun Bagan Club in West bengal later moving on to represent Eastern Railway Soccer Club. He played striker position in football and had scored 65 goals in 84 international games which he played during his career. His first game as part of the Indian team, was in the 1955 Quadrangular tournament in Dhaka, East Pakistan (now capital of Bangladesh) at the age of 19.[2]

Pradip Krishen: an Indian film director, directed some well-known films, Massey Sahib, and In Which Annie Gives It Those Ones in 1985, based on the Award wining screenplay by Arundhati Roy, in later years, the film acquired a cult film status in India [1]. After 1995, he became a naturalist and eco-botanist and environmentalist. [2]After this, since 1995 he geared his interest towards a different field he started studying trees [5], started taking nature walks in the jungles of Panchmarhi in Madhya Pradesh, with the help of a forester friend [6]. Soon he taught himself field botany and began the project of identifying and photographing Delhi's tree flora, walking extensively throughout the city. He has led numerous public tree walks on Sunday mornings [7] and is also a keen ecological gardener. He has created "native-plant" gardens in Delhi, west Rajasthan, and Garhwal. He is currently working on a large planting scheme for Nagaur in Rajasthan, and Khajuraho, in Madhya Pradesh.
