Padma Parvati Lakshmi: an Indian American cookbook author, actress, and former model who has described herself as the first well-known model from India.[1] She has been the host of the US reality television program Top Chef since season two.Her parents' only child together, Lakshmi is the daughter of a Pfizer executive and his first wife, Vijaya [2][3] a nurse who currently specializes in suicide prevention.[1] Her parents separated when she was one and divorced a year later. He published his first research paper (on general relativity) when he was a B.Sc student, at the age of 20. He joined TIFR, Mumbai for PhD and became a faculty member there in 1980 where he continued till 1992. He moved to IUCAA in 1992 and is currently the Dean of Core Academic Programmes.
