He was trained in law at the University of Adam Mickiewicz, Poznan, and in architecture, and fine arts at the The Academy of Fine Arts, Poznan where he earned his fine arts degree in 1979 from with a specialization in Painting. Throughout the same year he abandoned traditionally defined art for a more open-ended art practice. His first solo show was at the Akumulatory 2, a non-profit experimental artist run art gallery. Between 1979-83 Bogdan worked at the gallery and began teaching at Poznan’s Panstwowa Wyzsza Szkola Sztuk Plastycznych. In the following year 1983-84 he lived in Germany but in 1984 Perzynski moved permanently to the United States. Throughout 1984-87 he lived and taught at the University of California Santa Barbara. Since 1987 Perzynski has taught at the University of Texas at Austin while maintaining a Texas residence.

In 1932 he lived in Tripoli, where some of his finest canvases were painted, and where he painted experimentally with cement. Over the next few years he exhibited paintings at the Brooklyn Museum of Art and at museums in Chicago and Dayton, Ohio as well as in the International Exhibition of Paintings at the Carnegie Institute, Pittsburgh and the Albright-Knox Art Gallery in Buffalo, NY. His ceiling mural was awarded the Grand Prix at the International "Art and Technique" in Paris.
