Oda Makoto: was a Japanese novelist, peace activist, academic and Time Asian Hero.[1]His travels through Europe and Asia on a budget of a dollar a day formed the basis of his 1961 bestseller Nandemo Mite yaro ("I'll go and see everything").[3] His first book Assatte no Shuki ("The Notebook of the Day After Tomorrow") was published in 1951. It was based on experiences during World War II and the Korean War.[4]Oda won the Lotus Prize in 1981 of the Afro-Asian Writers' Association for his book Hiroshima.[5] This led to a 1990 English translation as well as translations in French, Arabic, Italian, Korean and Russian. It was written about the atomic bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki not only in Japan but on the Hopi Indians and Americans who lived near the testing sites.

Oda Nagamasu: was a Japanese daimyo who lived from the late Sengoku period through the early Edo period. Also known as Urakusai (???), he was a brother of Oda Nobunaga[1]. Nagamasu converted to Christianity in 1588 and took the baptismal name of John. His brother Oda Nobunaga took the Christian name of Geronimo.Nagamasu was an accomplished practitioner of the tea ceremony, which he studied under the master, Sen no Rikyu. He eventually started his own school of the tea ceremony.

Motoyoshi Oda: was a Japanese film director.An English major who graduated from Waseda University, one of Japan's most prestigious, in 1935, Motoyoshi Oda was promptly accepted into the directors' program at Tokyo's P.C.L. (Photo Chemical Laboratories, a film company later incorporated into Toho Studios). He studied under director Satsuo Yamamoto, as did Akira Kurosawa, Ishiro Honda, and Senkichi Taniguchi. When the latter two trainees were drafted into Japan's war in China, Oda found his career accelerated. He was promoted to director in 1940 with Song of Kunya (Kunya no Uta), after a relatively scant few years of training. Perhaps because of this relative lack of training, and certainly because Oda was not drafted into the army, P.C.L. and Toho kept Oda going as a maker of programmers--trivial pictures that had to be made in order to keep product flowing into the theaters, but which offered little time or room for artistic achievement.

He is the 2008 Japanese National Champion[1], the 2006 Four Continents Champion, and the 2005 World Junior Champion.He turned senior for the Olympic year, when he was guaranteed a senior Grand Prix assignment after he won Junior Worlds. Oda made a splash immediately as a senior, winning the bronze medal at his first event and winning the 2005 NHK Trophy over favorites Daisuke Takahashi and reigning world bronze medalist Evan Lysacek. Oda qualified for the 2005–2006 Grand Prix Final and placed fourth.
