Jari Mäenpää: the founder of the band Wintersun in which he performs vocals and plays guitar. He also played bass and keyboards on Wintersun's first album before hiring a full-time line-up. Before forming Wintersun, Jari was best known for his time in the viking/folk metal band Ensiferum, which he joined in 1996 after leaving his prior band named Immemorial.[3] Wintersun was initially planned as a parallel project alongside Ensiferum, but in January, 2004 he was forced to leave Ensiferum due to clashes between their touring schedule and the studio recording time he had booked for Wintersun.

Jari Puikkonen: was a former Finnish ski jumper. Puikkonen made his debut internationally in the Four Hills Tournament competition in Oberstdorf on December 30, 1977. He won his first World Cup victory at Innsbruck in 1981. That year he finished third overall in the Four Hills Tournament and he won three more victories in the ski jumping World Cup to finish fifth overall. He also won three medals at the Winter Olympics with a gold in the team large lill (1988 Winter Olympics), and bronze medals in both the individual normal hill (1984 Winter Olympics) and the individual large hill (1980 Winter Olympics).
