Jarallah Omar Al-Kuhali: was a Yemeni politician, intellectual, and guerrilla fighter. He was trained in Islamic law, but in the 1960s he turned towards Marxism. He was a political prisoner from 1968 to 1971 and participated in the civil war between North Yemen and South Yemen as a leader of the National Liberation Front, a politico-military coalition affiliated to the socialist government of the South. He escaped to the South after his forces were defeated by then-North Yemeni President and current unified Yemeni President Ali Abdullah Saleh. Jarallah became a member of the Politburo of the Yemeni Socialist Party (YSP), the ruling party in the South, and was named minister of culture in the government of a newly unified Yemen in the early 1990s

Jara had become a well-established jockey in Panama at the age of 15 and came to the United States in late December of 2003.In 2006, he began riding for Sheik Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum's Shadwell Racing and rode their colt Jazil to a fourth place dead heat finish in the Kentucky Derby then captured the final leg of the Triple Crown with a victory in the Belmont Stakes. For Shadwell he also rode Invasor to wins in the Suburban and Whitney Handicaps plus the Breeders' Cup Classic and Dubai World Cup.

Francisco Nef Jara: was a Chilean naval officer and member of the Government Junta that ruled Chile between 1924 and 1925.In November 1884 he was part of the crew of the Blanco that took that ship back to England for a complete rehaul. In 1885 he was sent to France to join the crew of the Colbert, to study french naval tactics. With that ship he visited most of the European and African ports of the time. By 1887, he was a second lieutenant, and participated in the hydrographic reconnaissance of the north of Chile, specially the areas of Esmeralda, Carrizal Bajo, and Arica.
