Stuart Errol "Stu" Ungar: was a professional poker and gin rummy player, considered by some to have been the greatest Texas hold 'em and gin rummy player of all time. George Okill Stuart: was a Quebec lawyer, judge and political figure. In 1843, he was elected to city council and he served as mayor from 1846 to 1850. In 1851, he was elected to the Legislative Assembly of the Province of Canada for Quebec City as an independent Conservative. He was defeated in 1854 but reelected in an 1857 by-election. Stuart was bâtonnier for the bar of Lower Canada from 1851 to 1853. In 1854, he was named Queen's Counsel. He was an assistant judge in the Superior Court of Lower Canada for a short time in 1855. Stuart served as a director for the Saint Maurice Railway and Navigation Company. He started a law firm with John Murphy around 1861 that operated until 1873. In 1873, he became an assistant to Henry Black, a judge in the Vice Admiralty Court at Quebec; when Black died later that year, Stuart was chosen as his replacement and served in that function until his death at Quebec City in 1884.

Charles Allan Stuart: was a Canadian politician and jurist in the province of Alberta. Born and educated in Ontario, he came west in 1897 and set up a law practice in Calgary. After a failed election bid to the Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories, he was elected to the Calgary City Council and then to the Legislative Assembly of Alberta. He resigned before the end of his term in the latter body to accept a judgeship on the Supreme Court of the Northwest Territories. He was later appointed to the new Supreme Court of Alberta. He was also the first Chancellor of the University of Alberta, serving in that capacity from 1908 until his death in 1926. Stuart first sought political office when he ran in West Calgary, a district in the Legislative Assembly of the Northwest Territories, in a by-election variously identified as taking place in March 1900 or on March 22, 1901. He was soundly defeated by future Prime Minister of Canada R. B. Bennett. Stuart was elected alderman on the Calgary city council in the December 1904 election, and served from January 2, 1905 until January 2, 1906.

John Stuart: was a Scottish-born wholesale grocer and political figure in Ontario. He represented Norfolk South in the Canadian House of Commons in 1874 as a Liberal member. Stuart was elected in the 1874 federal election; his election was overturned after an appeal and he was defeated by William Wallace in the by-election held in December 1874. Stuart was also vice-president of the Bank of Hamilton and a director of the Wellington, Bruce and Grey Railway. He also served as president of the Hamilton and North-Western Railway.

Sir James Stuart, 1st Baronet Of Oxford: was a lawyer, judge and political figure in Lower Canada. Stuart was elected to the Legislative Assembly of Lower Canada for Montreal East in 1808 and was reelected in 1809. He supported the parti canadien in the assembly. He was defeated in 1810, but elected for Montreal County in an 1811 by-election and served as leader of the parti Canadien, replacing Pierre-Stanislas Bédard. In 1814, he was elected for both Montreal and Buckingham counties and chose to represent Montreal; he was reelected in 1816. In the assembly, Stuart led the attack against the judges Jonathan Sewell and James Monk; it was felt that by revising the rules of practice for the courts, these judges had stepped outside of their jurisdiction and taken on authority that should have been under the control of the legislature. After his party lost interest in pursuing this issue after 1817, Stuart lost interest in the affairs of the assembly. He was not reelected in 1820. He was elected to the assembly for the riding of William Henry in an 1825 by-election, now a supporter of the British party; he was defeated by Wolfred Nelson in the general election held in 1827. Stuart was named to the Executive Council in 1827 and served until the union of Upper and Lower Canada in 1841.
