Moses Shaw: was a merchant and political figure in Nova Scotia. He represented Annapolis township from 1859 to 1859 and Annapolis County from 1859 to 1863 as a Liberal-Conservative and then a Reformer. He was a justice of the peace for Annapolis County. He was first elected to the provincial assembly in an 1858 by-election held after Alfred Whitman was named to the Legislative Council. Shaw was defeated when he ran for reelection in 1863. He died in Clementsport, Nova Scotia at the age of 60.

He served in the Canadian House of Commons from 1921 to 1925 as an independent Member of Parliament (MP), and later became leader of the Alberta Liberal Party.Shaw sought re-election in 1925 as an independent candidate, and this time received unofficial support from the Liberal Party of Canada. He lost to Bennett in a rematch of 1921, and subsequently became affiliated with the Alberta Liberal Party. On April 21, 1926, he was chosen without opposition as leader of the provincial party. From his new position, he attacked Alberta's UFA ministry as the government of a class rather than of all the people.

Shaw would win a hotly contested 4 way race to earn his first term in office. He would be re-elected in the 1945 federal election easily defeating 4 other candidates. Shaw would run for his third term in office in the 1949 federal election winning over 10,000 votes and retaining his district in a landslide.
