Saul Steinberg: was a Romanian-born American cartoonist and illustrator, best known for his work for The New Yorker magazine.Steinberg left Italy after the introduction of anti-Semitic laws in Fascist Italy. He spent a year in the Dominican Republic awaiting a U.S. visa; in the meantime, he submitted his cartoons to foreign publications. In 1942, The New Yorker magazine sponsored his entry into the United States. During World War II, he worked for military intelligence, stationed in China, North Africa, and Italy. After the war's end, he returned to work for American publications, merging an encyclopedic knowledge of European art with the popular American art form of the cartoon, to pioneer a uniquely urbane style of illustration.

Saul Rubinek: a Canadian film actor, often cast as a shady professional.Rubinek was born in Föhrenwald, Wolfrathausen, Germany, the son of Polish-born Jews Frania and Israel Rubinek, who was a factory worker, theater company manager, Yiddish Theatre actor, and Talmudic scholar. Rubinek's parents were hidden by farmers for over two years during WWII, and moved to Canada in 1948.[1][2] Early in his career he gained the attention of Canadian audiences when he starred as detective Benny Cooperman in two TV movies, The Suicide Murders (1985) and Murder Sees the Light (1986), which are based on books in author Howard Engel's popular series of mystery novels set in the Niagara Region of Canada.
