Sam Chu Lin: was an American journalist. Born in Greenville, Mississippi, Lin died, at the age of 67, in Burbank, California on March 5, 2006. In the 1960's, he was one of the first Asian Americans to appear on-air on both radio and (in 1968) television, eventually working for all four major broadcast networks. Lin's career in broadcasting began in his hometown and later led him to Phoenix, New York City, San Francisco, and finally Los Angeles. It was with CBS News in New York that he first reached a national audience.

Sam Lightnin’ Hopkins: was a country blues guitarist, from Houston, Texas, United States.Born in Centerville, Texas, Hopkins love for the blues was sparked at the age of 8 when he met Blind Lemon Jefferson at a church picnic in Buffalo, Texas. That day, Hopkins felt the blues was "in him" and went on to learn from his older (somewhat distant) cousin, country blues singer Alger "Texas" Alexander. In the mid 1930s, Hopkins was sent to Houston County Prison Farm for an unknown offense. In the late 1930s Hopkins moved to Houston with Alexander in an unsuccessful attempt to break into the music scene there. By the early 1940s he was back in Centerville working as a farm hand.

His most famous role on TV was as the banker in the TV series Little House on the Prairie.Born into a showbusiness family, his first role was as a baby in his mother's arms. He appeared on radio in the 1930s in the Adventures of Sonny and Buddy one of the first radio serials ever syndicated, and later in The Edwards Family, a series based on the life of Sam, brother Jack, sister Florida, and his parents, Edna Parks and Jack Edwards Sr. Sam was also an early cast member of one of the first radio soap operas, One Man's Family. His first major screen role was as Chuck Ramsey in the movie serial version of Captain Midnight (1942).
