Ryotaro Sugi: a Japanese singer and actor. He was born in Kobe. He is the father of actor Jundai Yamada.Among Sugi's roles is a role in Sukima Kaze, which sold over a million copies. His acting credits include eighteen films. On television, he specialized in jidaigeki roles, appearing as the first Suke-san in Mito Komon (seasons 1 and 2); his son Jundai Yamada played Kaku-san in the same show (seasons 29 to 31). He played the lead character in Oedo Sosamo, appearing from 1970 to 1974. In the 1971–1972 season he portrayed Isshin Tasuke in a series of the same name, and from 1975 to 1977 he played Toyama no Kin-san; his Sukima Kaze was the theme song. With former Miss Universe contestant Hisako Manda he starred in Kenkaya Ukon from 1992 to 1994.

Ryotaro Tanose: a Japanese politician of the Liberal Democratic Party, a member of the House of Representatives in the Diet (national legislature). A native of Gojo, Nara and graduate of Nagoya Institute of Technology, he had served in the city assembly of Gojo for two terms since 1973 and the assembly of Nara Prefecture for two terms since 1983. After an unsuccessful run in 1990, he was elected to the House of Representatives for the first time in 1993.
