Richard "Dick" Mather: was a municipal politician from Alberta, Canada. He served as a member of Edmonton city council from 1995 until his death in 1997. He also served as a public school trustee from 1983 to 1995. Mather ran for a seat as an Edmonton public school trustee in the 1983 Edmonton municipal election and won the fifth place seat out of 17 candidates in the at large vote. He was re-elected again in 1986, 1989, 1992 before retiring as a School Trustee in 1995. In 1989 Mather became the first President of the Public School Boards' Association of Alberta. He served in that role until 1991. Mather was prominently involved in the Representative Party of Alberta. He ran for provincial office twice under the banner, losing both times.

He was the last member of the United Farmers of Alberta (UFA) to hold the office, and that party's defeat at the hands of the upstart Social Credit League in the 1935 election made him the second shortest-serving Premier in Alberta history. The incumbent, Alison Redford, has the shortest term until December 1, 2012.

Richard Simonds: was a merchant and political figure in the pre-Confederation Province of New Brunswick, Canada. He represented Northumberland County in the Legislative Assembly of New Brunswick from 1816 to 1828.Simonds served as a justice of the peace and justice for the Inferior Court of Common Pleas. In 1824, he moved from Miramichi to Saint John. He was elected Speaker for the Legislative Assembly in 1828 but resigned his seat in December of the same year after being named Provincial Treasurer. His brother Charles replaced him as speaker the following year.

Christopher Robert Richard: is an American Major League Baseball outfielder and first baseman with the Tampa Bay Rays organization. He is an alumnus of University of San Diego High School in San Diego and of Oklahoma State University. He last played in the majors in 2003 for the Colorado Rockies.Drafted by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 19th round of the 1995 MLB Draft, Richard made his Major League Baseball debut with the Cardinals on July 17, 2000. He hit a home run in his first major league at-bat, becoming only the fourth player in the history of the club to do so. After appearing in only six games with the Cardinals, Richard was traded to the Baltimore Orioles on July 29, 2000, for pitcher Mike Timlin.

Jean-Baptiste-Tréfflé Richard: was a farmer, notary and political figure in Quebec. He represented Montcalm in the Legislative Assembly of Quebec from 1881 to 1886 as a Conservative.He was elected to the Quebec assembly in 1881 and again in 1886, but resigned his seat in 1886 after being named a crown lands agent. Richard served as clerk for the Executive Council in 1887. Around 1891, he became customs inspector for Joliette County. In 1891, he married Marie-Paméla Hénault. Richard articled as a notary, was qualified to practise in 1898 and set up practice at Saint-Liguori and later L'Épiphanie. He was an unsuccessful candidate for a seat in the House of Commons in 1917. He served as secretary-treasurer for L'Épiphanie from 1907 to 1913 and in 1921. He died in Montreal at the age of 70.

He was interviewed by the Globe and Mail in 1983 as part of a feature piece on the community's industrial projects; in the course of the interview, he highlighted Bécancour's port on the St. Lawrence River, its efficient road and rail system, and its low-cost electricity.
