Silas Alexander Ramsay: was the 14th mayor of Calgary, during which Alberta became a province. In 1883, Ramsay returned to Calgary and established several businesses. He served eight years as an alderman and was also mayor from January 5, 1904 to January 2, 1905. In the 1885 North-West Rebellion, he was a Government dispatch rider. Ramsay married Jessie A. Wilson in 1875 or 1876. Together they had four children. The neighbourhood of Ramsay in Calgary is named after him. He died in Vancouver, British Columbia in 1942.

Russell Harold Ramsay: was a politician in Ontario, Canada. He served in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario from 1978 to 1985, and was a cabinet minister in the government of William Davis. Ramsay was a member of the Progressive Conservative Party. He campaigned for the Canadian House of Commons in the 1965 and 1968 federal elections as a candidate of the Progressive Conservative Party of Canada. He lost to Liberal candidate George Nixon in Algoma West in 1965, and to Liberal Terry Murphy in Sault Ste. Marie in 1968. Ramsay was first elected to the Ontario legislature in a by-election held on December 14, 1978. Campaigning in the provincial division of Sault Ste. Marie, he was elected by a comfortable margin over a candidate of the New Democratic Party. He was re-elected without difficulty in the 1981 provincial election. He was appointed to cabinet as Provincial Secretary for Resources Development on April 10, 1981, and promoted to Minister of Labour on February 13, 1982.

David James Ramsay: is a politician in Ontario, Canada. Ramsay was first elected to the Legislative Assembly of Ontario in the 1985 provincial election. He served as Member of Provincial Parliament (MPP) as part of the Ontario New Democratic Party caucus, representing the riding of Timiskaming. He defeated incumbent Progressive Conservative Ed Havrot by almost 3000 votes, as the once-powerful Tory machine in northern Ontario began to lose its support base. On 6 October 1986, Ramsay crossed the floor to join the governing Liberals, claiming that Northern Ontario needed greater representation in government. (Ramsay also seems to have disliked the Toronto leadership of the NDP, describing it as of touch with his rural/populist base.)

James Ramsay: was a Scottish-born merchant and political figure in British Columbia. He represented Vancouver City in the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia from 1920 to 1924 as a Liberal.

Dave Ramsay: is a Yellowknife businessman and politician. He is currently a member of the Northwest Territories Legislature, and a member of the Cabinet, holding the positions of Minster of Transportation and Minister of Industry, Tourism and Investment. Ramsay first ran for a seat in the Northwest Territories Legislative Assembly in the 1999 Northwest Territories general election in the electoral district of Range Lake. He was defeated by candidate Sandy Lee finishing a close second. He would run again in the 2003 Northwest Territories general election this time in the electoral district of Kam Lake. He defeated two other candidates with nearly 50% of the vote to win his first term in office. Ramsay was reelected to a second term in the 2007 general election. He won a third term in the 2011 election and was chosen for cabinet on the formation of the 17th Assembly.
