Nicholas Angelich: an American pianist.Born in the United States, he began to study the piano with his mother at the age of five. He gave his first concert at the age of seven, with a chamber orchestra in the United States, when he performed Mozart's piano concerto in C major, K.467. At the age of thirteen he entered the Conservatoire National Superieur de Musique in Paris, where his teachers included Aldo Ciccolini, Yvonne Loriod, Michel Beroff, and Marie-Françoise Buquet. In 1989 he won second prize in the Casadesus International Piano Competition in Cleveland, Ohio, and in 1994 he won the first prize of the Gina Bachauer International Piano Competititon. In 2002 he received the Young Talent Award and the International Klavierfestival Ruhr. He has performed with major French orchestras under the conductors Myung-Whun Chung and David Robertson. He made his debut with the New York Philharmonic under Kurt Masur in May 2003. In 2004 he toured Japan with Kurt Masur and the Orchestre National de France. His recording of Brahms trios with Renaud Capuçon and Gautier Capuçon for Virgin Classics received a Schallplatten Prize.

Nicholas Hondrogen: was an American painter, photographer, sculptor, and filmmaker.In 1972, Hondrogen moved to the suburbs of Paris and commuted to a tiny garage/studio in Belleville, in the 20th arrondisment. Showing in various group shows, his painting Gymnopedi II was purchased by Centre Georges Pompidou. His first one person exhibition was sponsored by a grant from the French Ministry of Cultural Affairs in May 1974 at Éspace Pierre Cardin and La Pochade Gallery. From that show, The Museum of Modern Art of Paris purchased his painting Ghost Image No. 9. In 1982, the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art showed his Additive/Subtractive series of photographs.

Cynthia Maria Nicholas: is a former athlete and former politician in Ontario, Canada. She served in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as a Liberal from 1987 to 1990.At age 16 she attained provincial fame by swimming across Lake Ontario in 15 hours and 10 minutes. She would later swim across the English Channel on 19 occasions, including the first two way crossing by a woman. She went on to complete a record 5 two way crossings (see below for list of successful two way channel swims) including 2 in one year, earning her the soubriquet Queen of the Channel. (The title now belongs to Alison Streeter who has completed 43 crossings). For her efforts, she was made a Member of the Order of Canada in 1979. In 1993, she was inducted into Canada's Sports Hall of Fame and into the International Swimming Hall of Fame in 2005.

Mary Sandra Lovelace Nicholas: is a Wolastoqiyik or Maliseet Canadian senator representing New Brunswick. Sitting as a Liberal, she is the first Aboriginal woman appointed to the Senate. As an activist on behalf of First Nations women and children, she received international recognition in 1979 for bringing her case to the United Nations. In 1985 she succeeded in having Parliament revoke a discriminatory section of the Indian Act, which had caused women marrying non-Aboriginals to lose status and also deprived their children of status but did not treat men the same who married non-Aboriginal women.
