Charles Terrence (Terry) Murphy: was a Canadian lawyer, politician and judge. Born in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario Murphy was the eldest son of Charlie and Monica Murphy of John Street. He attended Holy Angels Catholic School and Sault Collegiate Institute (Class of 1943), and entered St. Peter's Seminary in London, Ontario. However, a year later he transferred to Assumption College at the University of Western Ontario, from which he graduated at the age of 19 with a BA (Hon) in philosophy. From there he went to Osgoode Hall Law School. Murphy served a term as Alderman for the City of Sault Ste. Marie in 1965. He was elected in 1968 as a Liberal member of parliament representing the Sault Ste. Marie Electoral District, at which time he joined the firm of Fitzgerald, Kelleher and Kurisko.

Denis Murphy: was an Ontario businessman and political figure. He represented Ottawa in the Legislative Assembly of Ontario as Conservative member from 1902 to 1904. His first name appears as Dennis in some sources. There is some question as to what year he was born. His gravestone says he was born in 1840, but his obituary in The Ottawa Evening Citizen newspaper, Monday, March 12, 1917, said he was born in 1842. He is buried in Notre Dame Cemetery, Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.

Thomas Gerow Murphy: was a Canadian politician. Born in Northumberland County, Ontario, he was a pharmacist before being elected to the Canadian House of Commons representing the Manitoba riding of Neepawa in the 1925 federal election. A Conservative, he was defeated in the 1926 election by Progressive Robert Milne. He defeated Milne in the 1930 federal election to return to Parliament and was appointed to the Cabinet of R.B. Bennett. He was defeated in the 1935 and 1940 elections. From 1930 to 1935, he was the Superintendent-General of Indian Affairs and Minister of the Interior.
