Miguel De Bonilla Y Laya-Bolívar: was a Costa Rican politician and priest. He was one of the signatories of the Costa Rican Declaration of Independence.He was one of the members of the Costa Rican republican party during the era of independence. He was in the neighborhood of Cartago's parish church when the royalist coup of March 29, 1823 was annouced. One of the supporters of the empire, the Catalan Juan Freses de Ñeco, son-in-law of the royalist military commander Joaquín de Oreamuno y Muñoz de la Trinidad, shouted, "Padre Tiricia returns, because we will kill him!" (¡Ese padre Tiricia que se vuelva, porque lo matamos!), and immediately shot him with a bullet that pierced his cassock.

He was re-elected as Minister of Industry, Trade & Tourism and spokesman by a Basque Cabinet meeting on 17 July 2001, having become a member of the Basque Parliament, and held these posts until 13 January 2004.
