Her work was valued in her own day, and her works were exhibited across the United States.Like most of the American Impressionistartists now known as California Impressionists, Wachtel relocated to Southern California after first establishing her career in the eastern US. She trained at the Art Institute of Chicago, and under William Merritt Chase in New York. Later, she taught in public schools and at the Art Institute of Chicago. In 1903 she journeyed to California, where she studied under William Keith, and Elmer Wachtel, whom she married in 1904.

He represented L'Assomption in the Legislative Assembly of Quebec from 1880 to 1886 and from 1890 to 1900 as a Conservative.He also served as postmaster and was secretary-treasurer for the municipality for 30 years and mayor for eight years. In 1864, he married Luce Archambault. He was first elected to the Quebec assembly in an 1880 by-election held after the death of Onuphe Peltier. He was elected as a Liberal MLA in the district of Île-à-la-Crosse from 1926 to 1934 and the district of Athabasca from 1938 until his death in 1941. He was defeated in 1934 by Deakin Alexander Hall, who was also running Liberal. His son Louis Marcien Marion later served as MLA in Athabasca from 1944 to 1952.

Joseph Paul Marion: is a retired politician in Manitoba, Canada. He was briefly a Liberal Party member of the Legislative Assembly of Manitoba during the 1970s, for the riding of St. Boniface. He served as a school trustee from 1967 to 1970, and was a councilor and acting mayor of Winnipeg in 1972-73. Marion was a founder of Club d'Hommes d'Affaires Franco-Manitobain. In the 1973 provincial election, he was elected over Liberal-turned-New Democratic Party incumbent Laurent Desjardins by a single vote. His election was overturned, however, and he lost to Desjardins by 618 votes in a by-election held in late 1974. He did not seek a return to the legislature after this time.
