He played 19 times for Canada in 1984-85.A native of Edmonton, De Luca played four seasons in the North American Soccer League. He played 1981 and part of 1982 with his hometown Edmonton Drillers. He then played the remainder of '82 as well as 1983 and '84 for the Toronto Blizzard. De Luca later played in the original MISL, playing three seasons, - 1985-86 through 1987-88 - with the Cleveland Force as a defender.

Sergio De Luca: is a Canadian soccer player who currently plays in Canada for Portugal FC in the Canadian Soccer League. De Luca began playing soccer with Woodbridge Soccer Club in the year 1996 and joined in summer 1998 to the youth of Italy club A.C. Prato who played between 1999. In 2003 De Luca turned professional by signing with the Hamilton Thunder of the Canadian Professional Soccer League. He was appointed team captain and helped the Thunder win the Western Conference title, and as well in the playoffs he led the Thunder to the semi-finals before losing out to Vaughan Shooters.
