Leo Kuper: was a writer and philosopher. He was born to a Lithuanian Jewish family in South Africa. He trained as a lawyer before becoming a sociologist specialising in the study of genocide.Kuper was an active member of the Liberal Party in South Africa during the 1950s and some of his involvements are detailed in Alan Paton's book Journey Continued.During the 1960s, Kuper moved to Los Angeles, California, United States, where he took up teaching and researching at UCLA. His publications include The Pity of it All, Passive Resistance in South Africa, and The Prevention of Genocide.

He writes about sports "from an anthropologic perspective."[1]Kuper was born in Uganda of South African parents in 1969, and moved to Leiden in the Netherlands as a child, where his father, Adam Kuper, was a lecturer in anthropology at Leiden University. He has also lived in Stanford, California, and London. He studied History and German at Oxford University, and attended Harvard University as a Kennedy Scholar.

Greg Kuperberg: is an American mathematician of Polish birth known for his contributions to geometric topology, quantum algebra, and combinatorics. Kuperberg is a professor of mathematics at the University of California, Davis.[1] He also maintains the Front for the arXiv.[2]Kuperberg is the son of two mathematicians, Krystyna Kuperberg and Wlodzimierz Kuperberg. He was born in Poland in 1967, but his family emigrated to Sweden in 1969 due to the 1968 Polish political crisis. In 1974, Kuperberg's family moved to the United States, eventually settling in Auburn, Alabama. Kuperberg wrote three computer games for the IBM Personal Computer in 1982 and 1983: Paratrooper, J-Bird and PC-Man. He enrolled at Harvard University in 1983 and received a bachelor's degree in 1987.[3]

Wlodzimierz Kuperberg: is a professor of mathematics at Auburn University, with research interests in geometry and topology.Although much of Kuperberg's early mathematical work is in topology, he is best known today for his work in geometry, and in particular on packing and covering problems. His first paper in this area (1982) showed that the ratio of packing density to covering density of any convex body in the plane is at least 3/4. His 1990 paper with his son Greg provides the best lower bound known at that time for packing densities of arbitrary two-dimensional convex bodies; with Bezdek (1990) he calculated the exact packing density of the cylinder, which prior to Hales' 1998 solution of the Kepler conjecture was the first nontrivial calculation of the packing density of any three-dimensional convex body.
