Hoover Orsi Pereira Martins: is a Brazilian race car driver. He began his professional career in 1998 in the European Formula Renault series where he captured 4th place. He returned to South America where he was the South American Formula 3 champion in 1999. 2000 brought him to the United States to compete in Toyota Atlantic where he finished 7th in his rookie season. In 2001 he switched teams to Hylton Motorsports and captured 5 wins on his way to the championship. However, in 2002 very few opportunities existed to move up to the Champ Car series and Orsi was left without a ride. In 2005 he made his Stock Car Brasil debut and captured 3 wins and finished 3rd in the championship. In 2006 he split time between Stock Car Brasil where he finished 3rd, but without any wins, and a frustrating partial season in the Cheever Racing Grand-Am Rolex Sports Car Series Daytona Prototype with teammate Christian Fittipaldi.

Robert Joseph Hoover: was a Major League Baseball shortstop who played for the Detroit Tigers from 1941-1945. Born in Brawley, California, played for the Hollywood Stars in the Pacific Coast League. On October 1, 1942, the Detroit Tigers purhcased Hoover from the Stars after all three Detroit shortstops -- Billy Hitchcock, Johnny Lipon, and Murray Franklin -- were inuducted in the military during World War II. Hoover hit .243 with a .300 On Base Percentage in his three seasons with the Tigers. In 1943, he led the American League in outs with 478 and in sacrifice hits with 28. He was also second in the league with 101 strikeouts in 1943. Hoover's last Major League appearance came in Game 6 of the 1945 World Series. Hoover had a single in three World Series at bats. He also had an RBI and scored a run in an 8-7 loss to the Chicago Cubs.
