Gus Lee: is a best-selling American author.a place he recounts in his childhood memoir/novel China Boy (1991). He first attended West Point and then left after three years, and then obtained both his B.A. and J.D. (Law) degrees from the UC Davis. At Davis, Lee served as the Assistant Dean of Students for the Educational Opportunity Program as well as a project coordinator of the Asian American Studies program. He received his law degree in 1976, subsequently entering the Army as a judge advocate. Upon leaving the Army, Lee returned to California to practice as an attorney and legal educator.

Gus Johnson: was a professional basketball player who spent nine seasons with the NBA's Baltimore Bullets and part of one season with the Phoenix Suns and the ABA's Indiana Pacers. One of the first prototype power forwards to play consistently above the rim, the 6'6", 235-pounder possessed an extraordinary blend of strength and athleticism. The man known as "Honeycomb" also was one of the first personalities and dunk artists in the game, as evidenced by the trademark gold star drilled into one of his front teeth and the three backboards he shattered in his career.[1][2]

Gus Williams: is a retired American professional basketball player most noted for his play with the NBA's Seattle SuperSonics, although he also played for the Golden State Warriors, Washington Bullets and Atlanta Hawks.While with Seattle, he was twice selected to the NBA All-Star Game, and was an All-NBA First Team (1982) and All-NBA Second Team (1980) selection. Williams, whose style of play earned him the nickname "Wizard", led the Sonics to the '79 championship while averaging team high 28.6 points per game. While in the prime of his career, Williams sat out the entire 1980-81 season due to a contract dispute. He finished his career with a 17.1 point-per-game scoring average in a career spanning 12 years from 1975 to 1987. In 2004 Williams' #1 jersey was retired by the Sonics.

Gus Edward Zernial: is a former Major League Baseball left-fielder and right-handed batter who played for the Chicago White Sox (1949-51), Philadelphia Athletics (1951-54), Kansas City Athletics (1955-57) and Detroit Tigers (1958-59). He was billed as the "New Joe DiMaggio."Nicknamed "Ozark Ike" after the popular comic strip character, Zernial was one of the most feared sluggers in the 1950s, joining hall of famers Mickey Mantle, Yogi Berra and Larry Doby in the American League, for most home runs in the decade.
