He served as Attorney-General of Bermuda from 1900 to 1919 and Speaker of the House of Assembly from 1921 to 1929. Gray compiled Laws of Bermuda from 1690 to 1883 in 1884. In 1903 he updated the work to 1902.

John Gray: is a former mayor of Oshawa, Ontario, Canada. Gray served as a Councillor for both the City of Oshawa and the Regional Municipality of Durham for nine years prior to being elected as Mayor in November 2003. The 2003 election was a benchmark for Gray - not only had he unseated a four term mayor (Nancy Diamond), but he had also pulled in more than 40% of the vote in a 5 candidate race. Gray was re-elected for a second term on November 13th, 2006 with a sweeping majority. He was later defeated by local businessman, John Henry on October 25, 2010.

John Hamilton Gray: was Premier of Prince Edward Island from 1863 – 1865 and one of the Fathers of Confederation. John Hamilton Gray was educated in Charlottetown. He chose a military career, trained in England and was commissioned into the 15th Foot in 1831. He transferred to the 13th Light Dragoons later the same year, the 15th Light Dragoons in 1839, the 1st Dragoon Guards in 1840, the 14th Light Dragoons in 1841, and the 7th Dragoon Guards in 1844. He served in India and South Africa and was decorated for his South African experience. In 1852 he retired with the rank of Colonel. He served with the East Kent Militia until 1856 when he returned to his birthplace. It was not long before he was asked to participate in the political life of the colony. In 1858 he was elected to represent the district of 4th Queens in the Legislative Assembly of Prince Edward Island as a Conservative. He was re-elected in 1863. Gray was Premier of Prince Edward Island from 1863 to 1865 and during that time he attempted to alleviate the problems of the tenants by passing the fifteen year purchase act, but the final solution of this question had to await Confederation. Gray was chairman of the 1864 [Charlottetown[Conference, which laid the groundwork for the British North America Act of 1867. He supported the entry of the Island into Confederation but when the Island rejected the scheme he left politics, turning the government over to James Colledge Pope.

Herbert Eser Gray: is a retired Canadian politician. He was Canada's first Jewish federal cabinet minister, and is one of only a few Canadians ever granted the title The Right Honourable who was not so entitled by virtue of a position held. He was first elected to Parliament for the riding of Essex West on June 18, 1962, as a member of the Liberal Party of Canada. He was re-elected in twelve subsequent federal elections, making him the longest continuously-serving Member of Parliament in Canadian history. Gray served in a variety of roles during his parliamentary career, including cabinet ministries and committee chairmanships during the Liberal governments of Lester Pearson and Pierre Trudeau, and as Opposition House Leader from 1984 to 1990.
