George Geary: was easily the greatest cricketer Leicestershire produced before the advent of David Gower and one of the best and hardest-working bowlers of the inter-war period.[citation needed] Above medium pace and right-handed, Geary was able to swing the new ball very effectively but relied for most of his success on his amazing persistence and ability to bowl with slight yet well-disguised variations of pace and cut. He was able to bowl quite incredible numbers of overs on unresponsive pitches, as shown in the last Test of the 1928/1929 Ashes tour, when he bowled an amazing 81 overs on a typical billiard-table Australian wicket in very warm weather. Because he was tall and very solidly built, he was able both to get bounce and to bowl the long spells required for success in Australian conditions which destroyed the reputations of all English bowlers of slighter build.

Reggie Elliot Geary: is a retired American professional basketball player for the Cleveland Cavaliers (1996-1997), and San Antonio Spurs (1997-1998). He played college basketball at the University of Arizona under Lute Olson. As a player at Arizona, the Wildcats had a 104-23 (.819) record, two Pac-10 Conference Championships, and an appearance in the 1994 Final Four. He remains the school's all time leader in steals (208), and is third all time on the assist charts with 560. He also played in Europe, most notably in Portugal as an F.C. Porto player.

George Reginald Geary            Origin/Culture/Country: American

George Reginald Geary: was Mayor of Toronto, Ontario from 1910 to 1912. In 1904 he became a school trustee in Ward 4. Then an alderman from 1905 to 1907. From there he became counsel for the Ontario Government. Then in 1908 he ran for mayor and lost to Joseph Oliver. Geary was elected Mayor in 1910, re-elected in 1911 and acclaimed in 1912. He resigned in October 1912 in order to accept a position as the City of Toronto's legal counsel. In 1925 he was elected as a member of parliament as a Conservative from the riding Toronto South and remained an MP until 1935. In 1935 he briefly served as the Minister of Justice in the Cabinet of R.B. Bennett and accordingly became a member of the Queen's Privy Council for Canada. He and the Bennett government were defeated in the 1935 federal election. Geary attempted to regain a seat in the 1940 federal election but was defeated by Arthur Roebuck.
